Are you in a writing group, or thinking of starting one? We can offer assistance, promotion, advice, and ideas. We can also connect you to a wide network of other writers and groups.

On Board
We promote many writing competitions; a great way to improve your skills. Some we organise ourselves and some are handled by our writing groups and other friends. Why not have a look at our many competitions and have a go?
We also have many events throughout the year, including writing festivals, weekend retreats, courses and workshops, poetry readings, quizzes, open mic, and all sorts of fun activities. Come and join us, we're a friendly bunch.

We organise and promote many writing competitions throughout the year. These include the regular ones listed below, but there are plenty more.
Many are free to enter and there are often prizes for the winners and runners up. Follow the links for more details.
- NAWG 250 competition – keep an eye out for the next one in the Autumn of 2026.

We have many events, including our regulars:
- NAWGFest – our annual open festival of writing in September.
- Weekend writing retreats at Wentworth Castle in Yorkshire. Open to all.
- A monthly Meet the Committee event via Zoom. Members only.
- Monthly meetings via Zoom. Collaborative sessions, often with exercises, and social chat. Individual members only.
