Current Competitions
We organise and promote many writing competitions throughout the year. These include the regular ones listed below, but there are plenty more.
Many are free to enter and there are often prizes for the winners and runners up. Follow the links for more details.
- NAWG 250 competition – keep an eye out for the next one in the Autumn of 2026.
- Members' competitions – opening on the 1st December. Details are in the members' competitions information.
- Open competitions are now open. Details are in the open competitions information.

The “100” Competition ↑
A rolling competition to write 100 word mini-tales. No closing date, they were on-going. For further details, please see the competition's information pages.

Write a short story, interesting article or a piece of descriptive prose about anything, in 250 words. Make me laugh, make me cry or make me amazed by your word power, but most of all – enter!
