    Extra Talks

Free to all, no need to book, just turn up to Engineering F107.

    Friday 4th September, 4.30pm – 6.00pm
    Julian Fellowes: Welcome by Julian

Come and meet Lady Emma and Lord Julian Fellowes, patrons of NAWG.

Julian Fellowes will not be selling books but if you have a copy of any of his books, bring them and he will be happy to sign them.

Please note that this is a change from the original schedule.

Date and time to be confirmed…
Steve Bowkett: Adventures of a Visiting Author

Steve will take a humorous look at the experiences writers are likely to have when they visit schools. He will also chat about how to promote yourself and your books in schools.

    Saturday 5th September, 1.45pm – 2.30pm
Talli Roland: How do Authors Know What's Right for Them?

Authors now have several different routes to take when publishing their work, but how do they know what's right for them? From traditional to self-publishing, to a mix of both, hear about the positives and negatives of each from an author who has done both.

    After-Dinner Talk

The £2 that Changed My Life by Lynne Hackles

From selling a reader's letter to becoming a butterfly writer, tackling anything that comes along – that's my writing life. An amusing and inspiring talk with lots of tips to tempt you to try something different with your writing.

Lynne Hackles has been writing for over 30 years, been a writing tutor for Writing Magazine for 25 of them and produces regular monthly columns for several magazines. She's written a children's novel, several how-to books about writing, been a ghost and, shhh! She's had several sex-changes.

After-Dinner Sparkles (Your four minutes of fame)

Have you or your group thought of having your "Four Minutes of Fame" on Saturday evening after the gala dinner, at the After Dinner Sparkles? Why not have group workshops before you come, to write a four-minute sketch that could be included in our impromptu concert?

Each year we try to make the After-Dinner Sparkles better organised, but it is largely up to you – the players – to let us know what you have planned to do. The gala dinner is time-tabled to finish a little earlier this year, and we shall have more helpers available to make this much-loved event run smoothly, so let's try to make it special this year: a true celebration of our work.

    The Market Place Book Stall

Published authors who are NAWG members may leave their books to be sold. No commission is taken.

There will be a dedicated room for book sales (Engineering F111), which will be locked at night, where you may take your books and set them out on Friday afternoon if you wish.

Please note: All books should have a written sheet inside, stating clearly the name of the book, the author's name and the price. Books without this sheet of paper will not be accepted.

    Meet the Author

For those of you with books on display during the festival, we're offering you the chance to read from your work on Saturday 5th September between 12 noon and 1 pm. This will take place in the room where the books are on display.

Slots are strictly for five minutes only and this time includes any introduction you wish make of yourself or your book. Places will be filled on a first come basis. To sign up before the event, please e-mail and give your name and the title of your book.

If any places are left, you will also be able to sign up on Saturday morning.

Don't forget the instructions for books to be sold.
