Website Report 06-Sep-2015
Contents
Prepared for the Annual General Meeting.
Approach
We've adopted an evolutionary strategy to develop the website, rather than one where sudden, unexpected changes are introduced. This means:
- Improvements are easier to plan and manage.
- There's less overall down time.
Achievements ↑
Hosting
With no significant cost increase, we've switched providers to achieve a more reliable service. We're already seeing benefits, such as:
-
Reliable, official e-mail addresses, leading to:
- Easy handling of staff changes.
- Being more responsive to enquiries from our members and website visitors.
- Better technical support.
Reorganisation
The website's content has been extensively reorganised to make information easier to find. In particular:
- Improved category structure and navigation.
- Shorter articles: easier to read and more manageable.
- Less repetition and therefore reduced risk of mistakes.
Link Magazine
Back issues of Link magazine are now available to read or download on the website.
Writing Groups Directory
Our web directory of all your writing groups has been improved so that:
- It's automatically generated from the Membership Secretary's list, so things will stay synchronised.
- You can search for writing groups geographically.
Future ↑
I'm not going to say too much about the future of the website, except:
- We have plans. Lots of plans.
- We'll develop these and make them available on the site for anyone to read.
- We want your help! We want your feedback! Please tell us about any ideas you have for the website.
